Professor Sawamura currently fires his wares in climbing kilns and anagama kilns in Hino, Shiga Prefecture. This was because climbing kilns were banned in Kyoto in 1968 (Showa 43) due to smoke issues. Professor Sawamura wants to faithfully reproduce the original Kiyomizu ware, so he is particular about firing his works using firewood. His works are filled with Professor Sawamura's passion, featuring the flames of the climbing kiln and sophisticated painting that captures the essence of Kyoto.
