This charming rice bowl is decorated with six colorful gourds, creating a bright and cheerful design.

Against the white background, the gourds are delicately painted in soft shades of pink, yellow, green, purple, and blue. The color combinations vary slightly between the large and small bowls, making them especially delightful to use as a pair.

In Japanese, six gourds are called mubyo, a word that sounds like mubyo, meaning “good health” or “freedom from illness.” For this reason, the six-gourd motif has long been cherished as an auspicious design symbolizing wishes for health and well-being. The red cord connecting the gourds also represents bonds between people and the meaningful connections that bring them together.

Perfect for everyday dining, these bowls also make a thoughtful gift to wish someone good health, or a meaningful present for a couple.

*Each item is handmade, so there may be slight variations in size and shape. Please enjoy these unique characteristics as a hallmark of handcrafted work.
